Once again, I had too much time on my hands. I was listening to a remix of Goldfrapp's "Train" called "El Train (T. Raumschmiere Remix), and I thought how cool it would be to play the song along with an action scene on a train. Then, I realized there was already an action scene that existed that would probably go pretty well with the song. Here is the ending scene from Mission Impossible ("You've never seen me very upset") set to the song.

| Funny scene from Waiting For Guffman ... |
[Jun. 10th, 2009|10:31 pm] |
"You know I want to try that less-is-more kind of acting where you just ... when you're talking to someone, you close your eyes, and then you look at them, when you're not talking to the person, I mean you open your eyes when you're looking away, but then when you talk to the person you go like that and you open your eyes and you look back at the person, but you never open your eyes when you're talking to them."
I love Catherine O'Hara's lines in this scene from "Waiting For Guffman". |

I made this video this morning to combine my favorite scene from Pulp Fiction with a cool mix of an old song, but it didn't come out quite the way I wanted. I like the beginning, though. |

| M.I.A. and Rosetta@home video - screensaver that analyzes proteins to find cures for diseases |

I use this screensaver called BOINC that is associated with Rosetta@home, a project where the power of thousands (or millions?) of people's computers is used to analyze proteins that may lead to cures for Alzheimer's, HIV, cancer, diabetes, etc., one day. I know it is a pretty lofty goal, but I think it is possible. Anyway, I long ago made a team for the project called M.I.A.
The teams compete in a way to see who can get the most credits (you have leaderboards just like you do for videogames). I have been pretty lazy about recruiting people for my team, but I thought it would be worth trying to do a little recruitment so I made a video for my team M.I.A. The music is not a remix ... it is just a collection of lyrics from most of M.I.A. songs (a few songs got left out so I think there will be a second video soon).
Here is the propaganda video ;) ...
You can go to this link to join my team or learn more about Rosetta@home ...

The picture of M.I.A. in the video is an unfinished drawing (it's finished now) by Mikee from the M.I.A. Fans message board. His MySpace is here ... http://myspace.com/mikee81889 |

[Feb. 10th, 2009|09:10 am] |
I have been listening to the Run Lola Run soundtrack a lot lately. I loved the movie, and I decided to set Franka Potente running around to M.I.A.'s song, "Bamboo Banga". It just seemed fitting. |

| I'm a firestarter, twisted firestarter ... |
[Jan. 9th, 2009|10:59 pm] |
I thought it would be neat to set clips from the movie, Firestarter, to the song, Firestarter. My lousy video editor totally crashed on me so the video that was supposed to be 4-5 minutes long is only 2 minutes long. YouTube wouldn't allow me to upload it since there are way too many copyright infringements going on in it. I uploaded it to Viddler instead. Here is what survived the crash ...

| Tegan and Sara - Call It Off (youtube video) |
[Nov. 9th, 2008|01:56 pm] |
I really, really love this song and video. There is something so minimalist about the presentation. I love how most of the video is white, but the colors of the cables add just the right contrast. I know Tegan and Sara have been around forever, but I think this song is going to get them noticed a little more. I can't back that statement up with facts. It's just a feeling I get.

Here's a little video I made with my video editor. It's an image of Obama that I have always really liked set to the song, "Rhapsody in Blue", by George Gershwin (conducted by Leonard Bernstein). I used to listen to "Rhapsody in Blue" on a record player, and there is something quintessentially American about the song so I thought it would go well with an image of our next president. I couldn't upload the video to YouTube because it is more than 10 minutes long (Damn you and your time limits, YouTube!). I was able to upload it to Google Video, though (and Google owns YouTube so that makes no sense).
I am pretty sure this Barack Obama image comes from Frank Shepard Fairey, whose website is Obey Giant. I think this image will be in history textbooks one day.
Here is a larger version of the image ...

I think it is weird how the button on the right side looks like it has a little face in it.

Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, and The Office are all new tonight! I will forget all of my problems for 2-3 hours (I don't know how long the first episodes of The Office are going to be). I just wish I had Tivo or DVR. I still use f*!king VHS! Ugh! |

Sarah Palin comes across as a moron in this interview. Couric comes across as intelligent and tough. Not bad! Katie Couric shows how much of a tool Sarah Palin is I think John McCain is trying to cancel the presidential debates so that they can be rescheduled to take place when the VP debates were supposed to take place. I think he realizes that Palin needs way more prep time before she is involved in a live debate. McCain probably needs more prep time, himself. | On Vox: Saturday Night Live and YouTube |
[Sep. 13th, 2008|05:35 pm] |
|
The season premiere of Saturday Night Live is on tonight. Michael Phelps is hosting. Tina Fey may make an appearance as Sarah Palin, and Barack Obama may make a cameo. It should be good. In other news, my YouTube account got deleted once again due to me uploading a song from "Piracy Funds Terrorism, vol. 1" by M.I.A. and Diplo. The song called "Baile Funk Two" featured a sample of Prince's song, "When Doves Cry". Prince and his management/record label will come after you if you have any of his music/video on your website, YouTube, etc., so beware! I am in the process of uploading all 77 videos that I had under the name "existentialrainbow". My new name is "phoenixrising113". I will eventually update my YouTube links.

Google has a new browser out called "Chrome". You can download it here ...

I like it so far. It is a lot like Firefox 3, but it also incorporates elements from Internet Explorer 8. It has a nice clean look to it. It doesn't have everything I need, yet, but knowing Google, it will get there. |

[Aug. 6th, 2008|08:34 pm] |
I am interested in this whole Facebook thing. I have people on Facebook that requested me to add them as a friend, but I don't even know them. Are they doing some sort of self-promotion and trying to get a lot of friends for some reason? Oh well, it doesn't bother me. However, I would like to have some friends on Facebook that I actually have a connection to so if you have a Facebook, feel free to add me! Here is my profile on there ...

[May. 11th, 2008|12:19 pm] |
I don't really understand completely how this SocialVibe widget works, but I am going to post it here right now and maybe mess with it later. I think everytime someone views this entry, I get points that will go to a charity I chose. I chose the One Laptop Per Child program because it was the only one I liked from the list you could choose from. I wanted to embed this widget into the header section of my journal somehow, but I will worry about that later.

Portishead's new album is all over the internet. I like Portishead enough to where I will actually buy their album when it comes out. I will probably actually buy Madonna's album, too. However, it is not impressing me too much, yet. I am hoping it will change my mind when I hear it in full.
Anyway, here is my favorite song on Portishead's new album, Third. It is called Plastic ...
You can also listen to it here.
I have been listening to this remix (I think it is an amateur remix) of Madonna's "4 Minutes" ...
You can also listen to it here.
I love all of it until the singing starts. I wish a longer version of the beginning could be made by the DJ who did this one.
M.I.A. comes to Austin on Thursday, but I cannot go because I work the next day, and there is no way I can go to a concert, drink, and function well the next morning. If only the concert could have been on a Saturday night. Ugh! I may still go, but my mood would really have to change to make me go. (edit ... the concert is sold out so I will not be going. That was easy!) |
